SayMark by VMSTA Inc. · Last updated October 15, 2026

This policy covers the SayMark app on iPhone, iPad and Android. SayMark is made by VMSTA Inc., Ontario, Canada.

In short

  • Your recordings, transcripts and notes are stored on your device.
  • Speech recognition and AI run on your device — your recordings are never sent to us or to an AI service.
  • No account, no ads.
  • SayMark connects to the internet only to download its speech and AI models.

Microphone

SayMark uses your microphone only while you are recording. You can turn off microphone access at any time in your device’s settings.

Your recordings, transcripts and notes

Recordings, the text SayMark writes from them, and the tasks, dates and notes it finds are stored in SayMark on your device. SayMark has no account, and VMSTA Inc. has no server that receives your recordings or your notes.

Speech recognition and AI on your device

SayMark turns speech into text with a speech-recognition model that runs on your device. To find tasks, appointments and dates, it uses a small AI language model that also runs on your device. Your recordings and their text are not sent to VMSTA Inc. or to any AI service.

Downloading models

Before you can transcribe, SayMark downloads the speech and AI model files it needs from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), a public library of AI models. Like any download, this request shares your device’s IP address and basic technical details with Hugging Face, which handles them under its own privacy policy. No recordings, text or personal information are sent with the download.

Reminders and notifications

Reminders you create are scheduled as notifications on your device. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device’s settings.

When your data leaves your device

Only when you choose — for example when you share or export a recording or a note to another app. Your device’s own backup (iCloud Backup or Google’s Android backup) may include SayMark’s data, depending on your device settings; Apple or Google stores those backups under their own privacy policies.

Recording other people

If you record a conversation, you are responsible for getting any consent that the law where you are requires.

Deleting your data

You can delete any recording in the app, or delete just its audio and keep the text and notes. Uninstalling SayMark deletes everything it stored on your device.

Children

SayMark is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

What VMSTA Inc. receives

VMSTA Inc. does not receive your recordings, transcripts or notes. If you chose to share diagnostics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports; these never contain your recordings.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask what personal information we hold about you. Because SayMark keeps your data on your device, we hold none of it. If you email us, our VMSTA Privacy Policy explains how we handle your message.

Changes

If the way SayMark handles data changes, we will update this policy and the date above before the change reaches your device.
